Reading values like Fine Knock Learning, Dynamic Advance Multiplier, and Wastegate Duty Cycle on my Cobb Accessport really intrigue me and make me wonder what my car really is thinking as I'm driving. So upon research, I have found this simple(yet complex) tuning guide that basically gives a good degree of information on how our car works and essentially how we get our cars "tuned". At one point in the guide, Clark Turner is mentioned and nearly quoted, so this really makes me want to get my car tuned by Clark himself and see what he does to make the engine run to its safest potential. Here is the guide and at the end lists several other guides you can read if you want to keep reading.

Here is the Tuning Guide

Everything written of in there applies not only to rom raider/ecu flash, it applies to all stand alone tuning as well. This is actually a rather well written guide on how to do it, however there is a little research involved especially if you don't understand VE or how the Sensors actually work.

Here's an example of a really, really bad timing map in 3d scale.

It almost is two maps in one but it's a good 3d representation of what timing should look like. You're entire map, but fuel and timing, should look like the right side of this map. It should be smooth, and climb or fall progressively. If you're map at any point looks like what's going on on the left side of the map, take your tuner out and shoot him, or just shoot him on the spot. It should never have a series of dramatic rises and falls, or look like a cartoon mountain range.
