i like to learn as much as possible about anything that i run across, so i have a question on the lwg map. what exactly does it change from what it was doinbg on nwg maps, and is the engine still recieving the boost it says i am or am i dumping it back to a safe psi?

It definitely sounds like your overboosting due to boost creep. Are you running a catless downpipe in conjunction with an aftermarket intake? Iv'e been reading that GR Wrx's seem to be a more prone to this with the aforementioned parts. It's going to be hard to tune it out since its more of a mechanical issue but a lower wastegate map might help some but the colder weather only exacerbates the problem. Best bet would be to reinstall the stock intake or try a catted dp and try running that way. You should also try dataloging to see how much the car is overboosting and to see how your fuel side is doing in regards to your injector duty cycle.

so heres a question better then the last. my target boost reads 14.8 on slwg map, map also says target boost should be 17.5. i am boosting 21.6 and the code for waste gate range performance pops, so do i use a hwg map cause 14.8 does not equal 17.5, or do i use lwg/slwg map cause 21.6 psi does not match 17.5. im really confused on which one is telling me what, the target boost is lower then it should be, and the boost is too high from what it should be. low or high?

Have you done some logging yet and where did you get that 14.8 should be your target boost (tb) for the slwg map? I searched the Cobb website and couldn't find it referenced anywhere. The 17.5 tb your referring to is for the 91STG2 nwg map. If your running that map or the slwg map and your still hitting 21.6 then your severely overboosting. You will need a EWG and a custom tune to alleviate the problem. For the time being, I would run the ACN91 STG2 lwg map and work your way to the swlg if your still exceeding the tb. Again you can also try reverting back to the stock intake and run a 91ACN lwg map. Remember these OTS maps were not designed to be run with a catless dp and header. You should really talk to a tuner (Clark Turner or Torqued Performance) and get a custom map for the mods you have.

ok, cause the part that was confusing me was if im supposed to be hitting 17.5, and my tb was 14, if that meant i wasnt hitting it, or if i was supposed to be getting 17.5 and the 21.6 was over exceeding. and the ewg is a problem cause i have the tomei headers with up pipe and it has a 3 bolt flange between the two. so i gotta look to see if they have one
