Increasing boost... Concerns...
Ok, so i bought my STI a month ago and I am craving more boost. I read that the stock boost on an 07 is 14.5 psi, is it true?
I would like to push the boost to 19psi. Is it safe with stock internals?
I already purchased an SR*S exhaust (from ebay, $250 shipped) and I was thinking about buying the DP from the same guy, catless for $99. Is catless the way to go? What other things should I do before I take the car to get it tunned? Any other "necessary" modification besides exhaust, up the boost and tune? I'm also thinking about changing the bOV changing just for sound but read that can damage your engine due to leaks.
Thanks in advanced guys..

If you need any info or guidance feel free to text me at 702 569 0202. No issue with Catless exhaust that I've come across and it's been 2 years. 19-20 psi is more than safe enough on stock internals, it's all in the tune. A Cobb access port will be your best friend. I run my boost at 19-21 on stock block on my WRX. Um yeah. Just text me with any questions and ill usually have an answer or can get you one. Dunno about the eBay parts though. ): or how reliable they are.

I will find out about the ebay parts soon enough. I've heard good reviews from other members about the exhaust without any complaints.
Any local tuners that you guys know that won't screw up? How much does tuning cost?
I will start looking for the access port..

Hey I have an 05 Sti and I probably have done the most trial an error work on all of my Subarus so if you have any other questions you can text me too and I'll give you any info you need!

The eBay exhaust works very well, get tr downpipe from them too! It's just metal and they're made well! Also, upping your boost will make more power but if you actually watch your boost, it tapers down pretty low unless you upgrade to a front mount. There are a few eBay fmic kits on eBay for about $300-400 that would definitely be worth upgrading to! Just ask dirty WRX or blackwagon02, they will tell you about boost loss with a top mount

Re: Increasing boost... Concerns...
I always read that on a stock turbo it's more than pointless to go fmic due to increased lag and what not.

Haha those people have never had a front mount and go with what they have heard. It's about a 100-200 rpm difference and yields a much better power curve due to holding peak boost longer
Re: Increasing boost... Concerns...
^speaks the truth. I peaked full boost a little later maybe like 2-400 later. But you peak and hold your 18-20psi .

Haha a blow off valve that vents to atmosphere does run you rich. You will not run lean, and that's why a lot of us shoot flames out the back. I can show you a front mount that is an awesome kit for pretty cheap if you want
Re: Increasing boost... Concerns...
I'm down! And I wanna shoot flames haha!!
Let's see the fmic

Re: Increasing boost... Concerns...
first all what are your goals with the car? drag racing? autocross? or just a fun dd?
it should handle 19-20PSI no issue so long your car isnt experiencing problems i would consider basic test before you start modding the car especially if the car was bought used, on that note i would recommend a compression test and boost leak test just to be sure the motor is safe to start handling mods tune ect..... plus it will give you piece of mind, ive hear good things about that exhuast for what you pay like sti2envy said its just bent metal lol catless is fine so long you have a tune for it and as for the BOV question i posted some BOV facts thread you should take a gander one thing is for sure GET A TUNE even at a 100% stock car it will make a difference and actually be safer due to elavation fuel ect ect... cobb ap is nice but you can always go with an opensource tune as well.

Yes, basic strut & sway setup. Who you recommend for open source tunning?

same as everyone clark turner or cam both have reputable tunes and performance gains, clark tends to come to ep more often though. either way they should be able to set you up with a solid tune for your setup
