really really confused now...
so heres a question better then the last. my target boost reads 14.8 on slwg map, map also says target boost should be 17.5. i am boosting 21.6 and the code for waste gate range performance pops, so do i use a hwg map cause 14.8 does not equal 17.5, or do i use lwg/slwg map cause 21.6 psi does not match 17.5. im really confused on which one is telling me what, the target boost is lower then it should be, and the boost is too high from what it should be. low or high? anyone with an idea, or a page to refer me to, or someone to talk to please let me know so i can figure out if im running the wrong map or just need to get protuned.

He is using Cobb OTS Maps that he downloaded. It sounds like maybe your boost control solenoid is defective or your wastegate just isnt doing its job?

thats what im thinking cause the severe low and low waste gate maps should change the performance but theyre now.

ok so what im seaing is ewg, cause everything else is a give and take, some are catless some arent, some are stock intake, some arent. i just wish there was 1 solid answer before i start spending money

when i get off shift im gunna go data log a pull and see if i can make the code pop under data log, then im gunna swap intakes then try again. ill post up my data logs on nasioc to see if someone can point out where im going wrong. i really just hope i need protune, the ewg 3 bolt flange is like 350 bucks, and im not sure if that even comes with the wastegate

see, 1-3rd is fine, no problems, i dont go over 18 psi in 3rd, its 4th and 5th that pop the code cause they jump to 20-21 psi, so i have to go about 80% accel position to be fine. i got my aem intake in with data log of it happening in 4th, then shifted to 5th and made it happen again so i could see whats up. gunna do my stock air box this weekend then try another data log. its going to be temperary till i can get protuned and ewg. just hate how common this is 08+

i got my prosport turbo blanket in yesterday, gunna put it on tonight/this wekend. does anyone think this will help or hinder my progress?

so on yesterdays meet, we were talking about my issue and if i should get a manual boost controller, and i started explaining it a little more and john (bmw) said why dont you just shim the waste gate? boom, that sounds like a plan. so we shim it with 2 washers, and it dropped my boost from 21.6 to 20.8. i found out between cruces and trans mountain, if i boost 20.8 i pop the code, if i boost 20.7 i dont lol so im going to do one more thin washer today and that problem is solved till i can get my ewg and pro tune. thanks john!!!

ok, so i put another washer in to shim wastegate, took psi to 18.6 on the ap, still popped the code in 5th. data log shows 17.13 psi at the moment it happened. i have my datalog and going to try to upload it. im out of ideas

Can't see the datalog you need to make it public. Oh and what gear were you in as you were logging?

Some observations: I'm not sure what map your running but its trying to pull boost (TD Boost Error in the -) throughout the rev range, steadily increasing as rpms climb. Your also seeing some knock at WOT. Additionally, the wastegate duty is dropping to about 20% indicating that the wastegate solenoid valve is almost fully closed (0=closed), which isn't necessarily bad, but your boost is still too high even the solenoid nearly closed. Tuners can set the value 0 to to help alleviate the problem but if your still overboosting then a tune will not fix it. I was hopping to see the injector duty cycle but that parameter was not logged. I wouldn't be surprised if your not maxing out your injectors with the mods you have. Again, your best bet would be to reinstall the stock intake and run the 91ACN low wastegate map and log separate 3rd and 4th gear logs from 2500 to redline. I good spot to do some runs is in the northeast on I54 just outside the city, there is very little traffic. Thats where I do all my runs.

yeah i meant to set the inj duty cycle on there but forgot. and i finally made up my mind to go ewg, so hopefully when i do that ill get tuned shortly after and ill have him mess with the duty cycle. the shimming seemed to help but also i realize its cold so its hard to see if im solid yet. i appriciate the look, and ill do those runs sometime this weekend and post them.
