2005 Subaru STi rebuild #3
As all of you know, my STi went down a couple months back due to a bad knock and one of the cylinders leaning out and melting. That was caused due to a bad PCV valve and so the oil came splurging out of the dipstick when I was on 54 South. Anyways, I decided to go ahead and rebuild her again so I will start adding pictures of the process as well as some updates as to what gets removed, replaced, etc….
So far we have already deleted the Air conditioning components and the ABS module and lines. Rigo has started the wire tuck as well. Notice the fuse box new mounting location.
Update: 25 May, 2013:
Got picked up for sponsorship by Buddy's Body Shop on Alameda. They are doing the body work, tucking/shaving of bay, and all paint work. I have been over to the shop a few times already and they do really good work and the owners / employees are down to earth. Here are a few pics of what they have accomplished so far.
I'm also having them install my brand new spec c roof vent that I picked up from a guy located in Japan. This will hopefully help out with cooling since I deleted the a/c and heater components.
As far as motor work is concerned, the motor is almost completely finished and ready to be dropped in upon completion of the paint work. I have a few bolt on pieces that I need to pick up before she will be 100% compete, however here is a list of the stuff I decided to go with:
Brand new Sleeved/O-ringed EJ257 Block w/ 100 mm CP 9:1 Pistons
Manley H Beam Plus Rods
OEM Nitrated Crank
ACL Race Bearings (Main & Rod)
Modified Oiling
Also decided to reuse the heads since they were still good, they consist of:
EJ257 Heads
Ported & Polished
BC 272 Cams
BC +1mm Overside Valves, Titanium Springs/Retainers
ARP Head Studs
We decided we want to run two different maps for pump gas and E85. Purchased a set of Injector Dynamics 2000cc top feeds w/ T1 Top Feed Rails Conversion. Also, picked up a Cosworth intake manifold for that little bit of extra airflow but also the appeal for the engine bay.
I also decided to do a few cosmetic mods as well as picked up a sponsorship from ChaseBays. I'm now going to run their Brake Booster Elimination Kit, In Dash Brake Line Relocation, as well as their Power Steering Kit.
Last but not least, the steering wheel on the Sti was started to deteriorate due to old age. Picked up an NRG Suede wheel w/ Slim Hub and quick release to get a little better response out of the steering. No pics but I'll get some up later.

So you finally decided to clean up that pig sty of an engine bay. Clean out your intercooler while you're at it.

@Wanted Yeah we finally decided to make her look better and delete stuff that takes up too much space. I'm gonna clean everything out and repaint everything.
@evomyevo I'll be running E85 this time with a few new surprises

Thanks! I heard your engine went down? What are your plans for it now?

Hopefully I'll still be here to see the finished product.

Yep 560hp 440tq was too much for the stock rods, building a 2.4 long rod, the 2.4 block is at the machine shop already.STi2eNvy wrote:Thanks! I heard your engine went down? What are your plans for it now?
But it's going to take way longer than your built since I just bought a bike (08 zx10r)

I could have sworn we spoke about the 500 mark previously. Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter as I have to hate you now on account of that sweet bike you just picked up
